The Master of Science in Data Intelligence (MSDI) program is an ideal fit for motivated engineers, computer scientists, and other STEM professionals who want to deepen their expertise in transforming complex data into actionable intelligence. It is especially well-suited for individuals with strong quantitative and programming backgrounds who aspire to leverage optimization, statistics, machine learning, and advanced modeling to support data-driven decision making in engineering and service systems. Applicants who are prepared for rigorous analytical coursework and eager to advance their careers in data science, AI, or intelligent systems design will find this program an excellent match.
This program is a great fit for:
- Graduates with a degree in engineering, computer science, or other STEM disciplines
- Those with programming knowledge, including python
- Individuals with an adequate background in mathematics and computer programming
- Those with a bachelors degree in information systems, IT, business analytics or similar who have also earned a Pathway to Computing Graduate Certificate from USF to gain the needed foundational skills.
Applicants must have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 and programming knowledge, including experience with Python.
Admissions Requirements
- Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher
- Minimum GRE scores:
- Analytical Writing 3.0 or higher
- Combined Quantitative and Verbal 300 or higher
- Quantitative 156 or higher
- Adequate background in mathematics and computer programming
- For international students: The equivalent undergraduate and/or graduate degrees from a foreign institution
Applying to the Program
Applying to the Master of Science in Data Intelligence program is easy. Early submission is strongly encouraged. Start by beginning a graduate school application. An application and the $30 application fee must be received by the following dates:
- Fall Start June 1
- Spring Start October 15
Application Process
Start by beginning a graduate school application. On the application, select "Graduate" as the student level you are applying for, Masters as the student type, and the semester of your interest. Then select USF Tampa as the campus and select Data Intelligence M.S.D.I" as the program type and upload required documents.
Required Documents
Upload the following documents to the online application website:
- One page statement of purpose
- Three professional and/or academic letters of recommendation
- Resume or CV
- Official GRE scores (A GRE Waiver can be considered for qualified domestic applicants.)
- Unofficial transcript
- International Students: Submit official English language proficiency scores directly from testing agency. USFs code is 5828. Minimum test scores required are: TOEFL iBT 79 or IELTS 6.5 or GRE Verbal 153 or PTE-A 53
