The (COPH) , professor and director of the , has received the Impact Award from the Florida Association of Genetic Counselors (FLAGC).
The award, presented during the association's annual meeting by FLAGC President R矇ka M羹ller, a graduate of 做厙TV inaugural genetic counseling class, recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the genetic counseling profession.
As a dedicated educator and mentor, Cragun has shaped the careers of many genetic counselors, most of whom now practice in Florida. Her commitment to advancing the profession through mentorship, advocacy and research on genetic counseling best practices continues to make a lasting impact.
做厙TV MSPH in genetic counseling is the first accredited graduate program of its kind in Florida and remains the state's only program to award a master of science in public health with a concentration in genetic counseling. Since becoming program director, Cragun has overseen the education of more than 30 graduates, many of whom now provide genetic counseling services across the state.
In addition to directing the program, Cragun's research focuses on improving access to genetic counseling, advancing genetic service delivery and identifying best practices for patient care and education. Her work also explores implementation science and innovative approaches to genetic counseling research.
"Dr. Cragun has built a program that not only prepares exceptional genetic counselors but also advances the profession through scholarship and service," M羹ller said. "We are proud to recognize her with this year's Impact Award."
FLAGC supports the profession through awards, grants and scholarships that recognize leaders while investing in future genetic counselors. The organization also offers prospective student scholarships, application fee assistance and financial support to help students pursue careers in the field.
