The mission of the USF College of Marine Science is to advance our understanding of the ocean, including the interconnectivity of marine systems and human-ocean interactions. That mission starts with you. The College of Marine Science offers graduate research degrees, graduate certificates, research experiences for undergraduates, and graduate and undergraduate coursework in oceanography in partnership with other programs at USF.
Master of Science (MS) & Doctoral (PhD) Programs
Engage in exciting, interdisciplinary research, while receiving mentorship from world-renowned scientists. Our faculty and staff are dedicated to supporting the needs of our students, who enjoy a culture of community and support.
Graduate Certificates
The Teaching Broader Impacts of Ocean Sciences Graduate Certificate is intended to develop, practice, and advance the skill of students to lead broader impact activities and meaningfully share their research and other ocean concepts through a series of field trips, labs, classroom visits, and community outreach events. Current graduate students, K-12 teachers, and community educators will benefit from this immersive, 12-credit certificate.
Undergraduate Opportunities: Making Waves REU
An immersive, 10-week summer Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) in ocean science for rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors with different academic backgrounds in both STEM & non-STEM fields. It will expose students to marine science, and train and educate them about oceanographic research and science communication.

Online MBA, Blue Economy Concentration
Offered in partnership with the USF Muma College of business, the Blue Economy concentration of the online MBA program boasts an innovative science meets industrial practice approach for one of the fastest growing sectors of the U.S. economy.
Looking for a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology?
The USF College of Arts & Sciences offers a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology that can be completed in its entirety on the USF Tampa and USF St. Petersburg campuses. Current high school students and their families or high school graduates seeking admission into a bachelor’s degree program in marine biology can contact the Office of Admissions or the Integrative Biology department for more information about undergraduate programs and tour options.
